So, it seems you've tried to call me. I guess you could say I'm too busy to answer, or I just haven't noticed the thing going off yet.

Anyways, seeing as I'm not here at the moment, feel free to leave a message at the tone. Though if you don't, I'm sure there's a pretty good reason why you didn't. Like maybe you prefer actually talking with someone rather than leaving a message and waiting for a response later.

Character: Serene

Game: Riviera

Age: 17

Mun's Journal: [info]suwako

Canon role: Before we even get started on her in-game role, let's quickly revisit Serene's past. Before Rosalina Island was attacked my Malice, Serene lived peacefully with her fellow Arcs and two best friends, Polly and Tehse. The three ended up going to Lacrima to investigate a rumor about the ghost of Ignis, and Polly ended up leaving both Serene and Tehse behind after getting into an argument with Serene. Polly ended up running into the ghost himself, who threatened her and sent out ghosts to be rid of her. Serene attempted to fight this ghost, but due to the ghost opening a Necro Gate to Niflheim, Tehse stopped Serene from doing so. He then tells Serene to sing a poem, known as her requiem, which has the power to seal the ghost, revealed as the witch Laura, away.

As Tehse casted holy magic to seal the Necro Gate, and Serene began singing the requiem, even though she claimed she was nervous because she couldn't sing well. Laura is calmed and sealed away, and soon after Polly collapsed and apologized to Serene and Tehse for her actions.

When they returned home, Serene was going over her requiem when Polly came to visit her. After going over how beautifully she sang the poem, Polly handed Serene her pendant, which is what caused the argument between the two to ensue earlier. Polly puts the pendant around Serene, and they talked about plans for the future.

Now to her in-game role. As Ein, Lina, and Fia are traveling through Lacrima, mysterious silhouettes begin appearing, but only one of the three noticed each time. At last, when they reach the Moonlit Courtyard, they hear sounds from above. Serene is fighting Malice, who purposely brings up the subject of how it was easy wiping out the rest of the Arcs. Serene ends up falling in front of the three, and Malice descends with her. She attacks the gang, but flees after her Diviner resonates with Ein's. Ein ends up collapsing, and after waking up, Serene talks about how Malice was chasing her and that she had stolen the souls of all the other Arcs. Serene decides to join the party, and they continue on.

Through the rest of the game, Serene is mainly an offensive sort, using scythes as her main weapon. She comes off as a tomboy, and enjoys teasing Lina every now and then. She develops a small infatuation for Ein, though it isn't as noticeable as the infatuation Fia has for him. Depending on the choices made throughout the game, Malice may end up taking Serene's soul to revive Seth. If this does happen, Ursula will later revive Serene after Seth-Rah is defeated, and in the end, she'll be fighting alongside Ein in Lacrima. If her soul isn't taken, she just stays with the remainder of the party and escapes with them after Seth-Rah is defeated and the area begins to collapse.

Apocrypha backstory: Finding continuous demon slaying to be rather dull, Serene came from Rosalina Island in hopes of becoming more powerful. Her tuition is paid by her herself, and the money needed came from the remains of demons scattered all about Lacrima (Serene couldn't bear to take money from the other Arcs). All her courses are in Collegia Gladiara, because none of the others suit her tastes.

Serene specializes particularly in ice elemental attacks, and is best with a scythe. She may also use dragon wings, claws, spears, and vice versa, though her abilities with each isn't as great. She enjoys teasing some of her fellow classmates, though it's all in good fun and not in a mean way. She also enjoys watching others fight one another for school purposes, but if a fight were to ensue between classes, she would step in and attempt to stop the fight.

Sample post: "Serene, it's time for class!"

"OK! I'll be there in a minute!" Life goes on, right? Enduring pain and sorrow, taking in love and happiness, its all a part of life. I have learned quite a bit from my newfound friends, and a lot from Polly and Tehse. I wonder... How are they where they are now? I hope that, if anything, they're at peace. It's been a while, huh?

"Serene! What are you doing?"

"..."

"Serene!"

"... OK, OK, I'll be there in a second!"

"You said a MINUTE last time!"

"Just be patient, OK?" They don't seem to understand. But that's OK. It's not like I would pile all my woe-is-me stories on them anyways. I need to keep fighting to protect those that I care for. And to do that, I must become stronger. My skills couldn't help save Polly and Tehse back then, but if I train now, I may just be able to protect everyone else.

"SERENE!"

"OK, I'M COMING!" Life does go on.
